Hard Disk Destruction |
To protect your confidential information, California Recycles offers hard disk erasure and destruction. When ever possible we try to put newer computers back in use. If we can put the computer back in use we use the three-pass system that meets US Department of Defense disk sanitation standards (DoD 5220.22-M) and complies with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. If we are unable to put the computer back in use the hard drive is removed and sent to a certified hard disk destructor where the hard disk is shredded. We also can arrange for hard drive destruction while you watch. |
Cell Phone Erasure |
For added peace of mind, California Recycles offers cell phone erasure. All phone numbers, names, and other information are completely removed. To use this service, your phone must have some power available. |
California Recycles Collection Boxes |
Don’t trash those smaller electronics! Now you can be organized about storing your old batteries, CDs/DVDs and cell phones, and ink cartridges. Use our Collection Boxes at home or work as a reminder to recycle – when full – just bring the box back to California Recycles for FREE recycling of contents. |

To recycle computer CRT Monitors, TVs, Laptop Computers, and Flat Screen Monitors FREE, you must declare that the equipment is California sourced”; purchased and used in California. To make this declaration, you must provide your name and physical address (P.O. Boxes not acceptable) for a State of California form. As the recycling of these items is funded with a State tax, the State must verify that it is funding recycling by California residents and businesses. Non-California Sourced CRT Monitors, TVs, Laptop Computers, and Flat Screen Monitors cost 90¢ / lb to recycle. |
